OSTEOPATHY FOR MUMS AND BABIES
During all consultations, osteopaths are trained to screen for medical issues and will tell you if you need to see another professional such as your doctor, or midwife.
SPECIALIST PAEDIATRIC OSTEOPATHY
Kate has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Specialist Paediatric Osteopathy and now also works as a clinic tutor on this course at the University College of Osteopathy.
Osteopathy is suitable for children & babies of all ages and is a safe and gentle therapy.
Babies skeletons are softer than adults, so treatment is modified to be very gentle, including gentle massage that may help to soothe and relax your baby.
Osteopaths can work alongside lactation consultants to give postural advice related to breast feeding.
OSTEOPATHY THROUGH PREGNANCY
During pregnancy the body goes through lots of changes to help adapt and support the growth of your baby, including softening of ligaments, weight gain and changes of posture.
Together, these changes can lead to extra pressure on the joints and muscles, especially in the lower back and pelvis.
Osteopathy is very safe and gentle. Treatment aims help to relieve these extra strains and pressure so that you can enjoy your pregnancy as comfortably as possible. Please let your osteopath know before coming in for your appointment if you are pregnant.
OSTEOPATHY POSTNATAL
Giving birth is an extremely strenuous physical and emotional process. After birth, while bodies are recovering, mums are often breast feeding, lifting and carrying their babies, which can lead to tensions and aches and pains.
Osteopathy can work to help relieve these pains, helping you to relax and enjoy time spent with your baby.
OSTEOPATHY FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS
As children grow, their bodies go through a lot, including normal bumps and falls, sports injuries, carrying heavy school bags and spending lots of time sat at desks. All of this happens at time of growth and change.
Osteopathy may be helpful in relieving aches and pains from these and helping your child to feel relaxed.
