Mummy MOT®

Pregnancy and childbirth change your body in ways that aren’t always obvious. A Mummy MOT® is a specialist postnatal assessment designed to check how your body is recovering and help you feel confident returning to everyday activities and exercise.

At Edge Osteopathy, we offer a calm, supportive Mummy MOT® tailored to you and your postnatal journey.

What is a Mummy MOT®?

A Mummy MOT® is a postnatal check-up that focuses on areas commonly affected by pregnancy and birth, including:

  • The pelvic floor

  • Abdominal muscles (including abdominal separation)

  • Posture, breathing and movement

  • The pelvis, hips and lower back

It’s suitable after vaginal or caesarean birth, and whether you’re weeks or years postpartum.

Why have one?

Many women experience symptoms after birth, such as:

  • Back, pelvic or hip pain

  • Pelvic floor weakness or leaking

  • Abdominal separation

  • A feeling of heaviness or instability

  • Loss of confidence returning to exercise

A Mummy MOT® helps identify underlying issues and provides clear, personalised advice on how to move forward safely.

What happens in the appointment?

Your appointment will include:

  • Discussion of your pregnancy, birth and recovery

  • Assessment of posture, breathing and movement

  • Abdominal muscle assessment

  • Optional internal pelvic floor assessment (only with your consent)

  • Personalised advice, exercises and treatment if needed

You are always in control, and nothing is done without your permission.

When should I book?

  • From 6 weeks postnatal (vaginal birth)

  • From 8–10 weeks postnatal (caesarean section)

It’s never too late to benefit.
